So, I’ve currently been focusing on weight loss after a pretty successful bulking season. A lot of strength and dense muscle was built. I finished at 142 pounds (I’m 5’6.5″) with a max bench of 140 lbs, 265lb squat and a 360 conventional deadlift (375 sumo). Needless to say I was quite pleased and proud of myself.
I stayed away from the scale and used my physical appearance (mainly abdominal definition) as a guideline when increasing macros. I started dieting and cutting back slowly at the end of June. As of August 11, I got down to 129lbs. Never starving myself, although I’m always hungry, and not doing endless hours of cardio.
Since my calories have been restricted, I’m focusing more on endurance and hypertrophy training, rather than strength. Soooo, I woke up Saturday morning feeling rather ambitious. I laid in bed and constructed this plan totaling 1000 reps. Yes, that’s correct, ONE THOUSAND REPS!!
While doing it, I wanted to quit. I wanted to rest and rest some more…but I didn’t allow it. I made a plan and by golly I was going to see it through. All the while telling myself “don’t die, don’t die, don’t die”! And what do you know?! I survived and in a time much shorter than I thought. 70 minutes, start to finish, including rest and brief interruptions from fellow gym-goers.
So, without further ado, here is the format as well as a little video of some of the exercises. Please give it a shot if you’re feeling froggy and wanna jump! And please let me know what you think if you do!!
*If you feel dizzy or have any abnormal pain, please stop the workout immediately. Go at your own pace and do what you’re capable of. But most of all, have fun and be safe!
….say that 5 times fast!
I’ve always had very sensitive skin, so much so that it’s annoying. When I come across a new trick, I’ll try anything once for baby soft, clear skin. It’s important when making this mask to use organic ingredients, so that you aren’t using anything with potentially harmful additives.
Yogurt contains lactic acid, which helps brighten skin or repair sun damage, fade dark marks, tighten and promote youthful skin.
Honey is a natural antimicrobial, which can kill bacteria and help treat acne prone skin.
Green Tea is an antioxidant. It may help reduce puffiness under eyes, treat acne, draw out impurities and reduce the size & appearance of pores.
These are just some of the benefits of using this mask. You will find that after rinsing, your skin is baby soft and smooth!
- 1-2 tablespoons Organic plain, unsweetened Greek Yogurt
- 1 teaspoon Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder
- 1 teaspoon Organic (raw)Honey
Blend all ingredients in a small dish until a smooth mixture results.
Apply in an even layer on clean skin and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse clean with warm water and pat dry.
If there is extra left, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to a week or two (depending on yogurt’s expiration date). You’ll see I put mine in a small, sealed container for safe keeping.
Just want to drop by and say “hello!”, as I’m out adventuring playing tourist in my own backyard. It’s amazing what you can find when you slow down and open your eyes to appreciate what’s around you. Hope everyone has an amazing holiday weekend. Stay safe, my friends.
As promised, here is a recipe that is very close and dear to my heart… and stomach.
I’ve recently learned that my skin does not like gluten. And that doesn’t work well with me. I love gluten. And cookies. I need them to feel complete. So, I baked and ate and baked and ate until my favorite soft batch cookie recipe had become a gluten free edition that anyone will enjoy! But, you may just want to keep them all for yourself. Happy baking!!

As I work on revamping my blog, I figure I’d give my fitness logo a facelift as well. Why not, right? So, here it is; clean and simple, just the way I like things. This may change but here is the first rendering.
Now, as my gift to you…. Drumroll please!
I’ll be posting my insanely delicious, crunchy-chewy, gooey chocolate chip cookies. And they just so happen to be gluten free. But don’t let that scare you! These are better than most recipes with gluten… Scratch that. Not most. ALL! Bold statement, I know. These bad boys even have gluten lovers fooled… and I’ll never tell. ;) Check back later today for the unveiling.
After a very long hiatus, I’m back and ready to dive in head first. No dipping the toes in, no baby steps, just taking the plunge and blogging until my heart’s content.
Where have I been, you ask?! All over… I packed up and drove out to San Diego in my coupe with nothing but me and a carful of my belongs. After about 5 months or putzing around, I decided to head back to Florida and be closer to my family on the Gulf coast and never looked back. I also vowed to never make that trip again. Have you driven through Texas before? Oye vey!
The past couple years have been good to me. I have a fabulous job as a personal trainer, with clients I adore and enjoy working with. A new (not so) puppy-like English Bulldog named Ruger, who is the light of my life and total pain in the butt but I love him none the less. I’m in the best shape of my life, mentally and physically, with no plans of slowing down.
So, if you’re still following me, get your pantry stocked up and your gym clothes out because we’re gonna rock this summer of 2016!
It’s official! As of February 26th, I finished my Sports Nutrition course and I’m now a certified personal trainer and sports nutrition specialist! I can’t tell you how excited I am to begin this new career and combine my health and fitness passion with my love of nutrition and cooking.
Oh and hello from Beaver Creek. Surprise!!
So here I am, relaxed with my feet up on a fire pit enjoying my free time. The others are out hitting the slopes. I only started skiing a few years ago. I’m not the best but I can hold my own on the beginners/Green courses. Lol I think I’m more of an enjoy the surroundings type of person. Can you blame me? I did, for the record, go to the top a few times last year and successfully made it down sans fatalities!
Even though I’m on vacation, I don’t want to completely sabotage my diet. Especially since I’m at the end of my 8 month bulk/reverse diet. (Trying to put on as little fat as possible here.) Not the easiest thing when you’re on vacation and the smell of hot chocolate and fresh crêpes are looming in the air. It’s an intoxicatingly sweet, delicious smell that’s hard to resist. So, to help any ounce of willpower I may need, I made some chocolatey-peanut butter protein brownies. What a life saver these babies are turning out to be, especially since American Airlines doesn’t give snacks. What kind of poppycock is that?! Every year we fly out here, I’m astounded by it. So I finally came prepared.
These brownies are quick, easy and a healthy treat you don’t have to feel guilty about. Stay tuned for the recipe. It’ll be posted shortly!
